What they are

  • Emsculpt: a non‐invasive device using HIFEM (High Intensity Focused Electromagnetic) energy to induce strong muscle contractions.
  • Emsculpt NEO: newer version combining HIFEM + RF heating; thus both muscle building and fat reduction.  

How they work

  • The device places applicators on the body area; HIFEM triggers many intense supramaximal muscle contractions (much more than what’s possible voluntarily) → muscle strengthening/ hypertrophy.  
  • With the “NEO” version, simultaneous RF heats fat tissue to break down fat cells (apoptosis) while muscle is stimulated.  

What they treat / benefits

  • Body sculpting: improved muscle tone, definition, reduced stubborn fat in areas like abdomen, buttocks, thighs, arms.  
  • No downtime; many patients resume regular activities.  
  • NEO version: up to ~30% subcutaneous fat reduction and ~25% muscle volume increase (per studies) in appropriate cases.  

Considerations

  • These are not weight‐loss treatments; best for patients near their ideal weight who want sculpting/ tone.  
  • Multiple sessions are usually required (often 4 sessions, spaced days apart) for optimal results.  
  • Good muscle tone and skin quality help results; loose sagging skin may still benefit from tightening adjunct modalities.
