EMFACE (Facial Contour & Tightening)
What it is
EMFACE is a non-invasive facial contouring and skin-tightening treatment that harnesses a unique dual-technology approach — combining synchronized radiofrequency (RF) heating with HIFES® (High-Intensity Facial Electrical Stimulation) muscle activation.
The device is cleared to treat facial skin and muscles, offering lift, improved muscle tone, and smoother skin without surgery or needles.
How it works
- RF (Radiofrequency): Applicators deliver controlled thermal energy to the dermis and underlying tissues, stimulating collagen and elastin production and tightening the skin matrix.
- HIFES® (Muscle Stimulation): Electrical pulses induce thousands of involuntary muscle contractions in targeted facial muscle groups (e.g., cheeks, forehead, jaw), strengthening and toning them.
- A single 20-minute session covers key zones (e.g., forehead + cheeks) — the patient feels warmth plus subtle muscle contractions.
What it treats & benefits
- Mild to moderate skin laxity in the face: sagging cheeks, jawline definition loss, under-chin (“submental”) softening.
- Wrinkles and fine lines: by improving skin quality and muscle support.
- Facial muscle atrophy/weakness: especially helpful for clients seeking improved tone without fillers.
- Key benefits: needle-free, minimal-to-no downtime, quick treatment sessions, natural-looking results.
Treatment process & expectations
- Consultation: Provider evaluates facial anatomy, skin quality, muscle tone, and sets realistic expectations.
- Session: Typically about 20 minutes for full face (may vary by provider). Applicators positioned on forehead/cheeks (and optionally under-chin). You’ll feel warmth + pulsing contractions.
- Protocol: Commonly 3-4 treatments, spaced about one week apart; then maintenance sessions every 3-6 months.
- Results timeline: Some improvement may be noticed after the first session, but full effects typically build over weeks as collagen remodels and muscles adapt.
- Downtime: Very minimal; you can resume normal activities immediately after treatment. Minor warmth or redness possible.
Considerations & limitations
- EMFACE is not equivalent to a surgical facelift; it is best for mild-to-moderate laxity rather than large volumes of excess skin or heavy sagging.
- It does not add volume like dermal fillers; rather, it improves tone and contour. If significant volume loss exists, fillers or other treatments may be required.
- Good candidate → you have moderate aging signs, decent skin elasticity, and desire non-invasive lift.
- Less ideal if you have severe jowls, very loose skin, or expect dramatic surgical results.
- Cost and protocol vary by provider. Some reports suggest series may cost several thousand dollars.
